World Smile Day

Miles for Smiles
Table Mountain Run 2018

What’s it about?

Join Operation Smile ambassadors, David Grier and Andrew Stuart, on World Smile Day (Friday 5 October) with a hike up Table Mountain to raise funds for Miles for Smiles and to facilitate corrective surgeries for Operation Smile. At the summit, you’ll be part of creating a unique “human smile”, which will be captured by means of an aerial photograph.

Not only will this hike help to put a smile on a child’s face, you’ll also end off with a smile thanks to those feel-good exercise endorphins. And besides, now’s the perfect time to start with your summer-body regime.

The group will be departing from the base of Platteklip Gorge at 6am, with the aim to watch sunrise and create the smile at the summit around sunrise. It’s a case of “the more the merrier”, so encourage your (moderately fit) friends and family to join. Remember to wear comfortable walking/running shoes and bring along a headlamp and water.

World Smile day is a global event when people help to “improve the world, one smile at a time”. “I can’t think of a more appropriate manner and day to tell South Africans and the rest of the world that we’re striving for a world in which everyone is able to smile,” said David.
